Mission
The Community Chest’s mission is to provide equitable access to quality hygiene and clothing products through a re-imagined and dignified shopping experience.
Vision
Rather than marking items with price tags, Community Chest is a thrift & hygiene store where our customers can get what they need and give what they’re able. It is also a space where customers can share a meal, learn names, and have conversations with one another. Our vision is that when people of all socioeconomic backgrounds shop shoulder to shoulder with one another and engage in dignified conversation, we can build community that reflects the kingdom of God.
Inspired Scripture
James 2:8 - If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
1 John 3:17-18 - If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
2 John 1:5 - “...I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.”
Proverbs 29:7 - The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.
